Election Linky Stuff

This
election, more than any before it, is heavily
influenced by the internet. All the parties have
their sites ship-shape, and indeed most individual
candiates have their own sites and blogs on the go
too.
We have sites that seek to help us make our choice. pickyourparty.ie does this by gauging your position on various issues, assigning it a numerical value, and then comparing this with the numerical value it has evaluated for the various parties. Unlike the political compass, it is specific to Ireland and matches your opinions to a party rather than just point ot a particular political ideology.
Several bloggers have dedicated much of their bandwidth to election coverage, but probably the best one-stop shop is irishelection.com. Kudos to Simon and Cian, who are the driving forces behind the site.
In previous elections, we had to rely on the Phoenix, RTE or other media for the satire and the jokes, but this time round there are plenty of home-made laughs to be found. Blogorrah is to the forefront, and fair play to them for keeping up all the way from Noo Yerk. The Photoshop kings, Nat King Coleslaw and Dr DoLoads are doing sterling stuff at their new home over at Curry Chips. Don't forget to add Green Ink to the RSS reader either.
Online video has been a big feature of this election. As well as the various parties and candidates submitting their own clips, there are a number of satirists. Theone that has caused the biggest stir is the Political Thicko. The Mary Harney video is a classic.
